School Rules and Regulations
The standards of conduct expected of every learner at the college.
Discipline is the first word on our crest, and these rules describe what it means in practice. Every learner admitted to Kiira College Butiki, and every parent or guardian, accepts them on admission.
1. Attendance and punctuality
- Learners report on the date set by the college and remain until the official end of term.
- Absence from the college requires written permission from the administration.
- Lessons, assemblies, preps and college functions are compulsory.
2. Uniform and appearance
- The full college uniform is worn correctly at all times, including on journeys to and from the college.
- Hair is kept short and neat. Jewellery and cosmetics are not permitted.
3. Conduct and respect
- Learners treat staff, visitors, support staff and one another with courtesy.
- Bullying, fighting, intimidation and abusive language are serious offences.
- Honesty is expected in class, in examinations and in all dealings within the college.
4. Property and environment
- College property is used carefully; damage is paid for.
- Learners keep classrooms, dormitories and the compound clean.
5. Prohibited items
- Alcohol, tobacco, narcotics and any weapon are strictly prohibited.
- Mobile phones and other unauthorised electronic devices are not allowed at the college.
6. Examinations
- Any form of examination malpractice attracts the severest disciplinary action.
7. Discipline
Breaches are handled by the Disciplinary Committee. Sanctions range from counselling and community duty to suspension or, for the gravest offences, expulsion. Parents are involved at every serious stage.
