Academics
Kiira College Butiki prepares learners for the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE), teaching the competence-based curriculum as it was intended — through practical work, investigation and application, not memorisation.
Ordinary Level (S.1 – S.4)
Learners follow the national lower-secondary curriculum across languages, sciences, mathematics, humanities, and technology and vocational subjects, sitting UCE at the end of Senior Four.
Advanced Level (S.5 – S.6)
At A-Level learners specialise in a combination of three principal subjects with a subsidiary, chosen to match their intended course at university.
Practical learning
Our new science laboratory has become a working centre of discovery. Learners are not merely observing science — they conduct experiments, record observations, analyse results and defend their conclusions. Spacious workstations, functional sinks, proper lighting and organised seating make collaborative, inquiry-based learning possible.
What learners build
- Critical thinking — analysing and evaluating experimental outcomes.
- Collaboration — working in structured laboratory and project groups.
- Communication — presenting and defending findings.
- Creativity — exploring alternative solutions and interpretations.
- Responsibility — safe, careful handling of materials and equipment.
