Kiira College Butiki (KCB) is a prestigious public boarding secondary school for boys, located on Butiki Hill in Namulesa, Jinja District in Eastern Uganda. It was founded in 1959 by the Busoga Lukiiko to expand access to quality education in the Busoga subregion and beyond, and has evolved into a prominent all-boys boarding secondary school in Uganda Today, it serves learners aged approximately 13 to 18 years.
The school’s motto — "Discipline & Hard Work" — reflects its enduring commitment to academic excellence, character development, and the holistic grooming of young men prepared for leadership and service.
Originally established as a junior secondary school in 1959 by the Busoga local administration, known as the Lukiko, during the reign of HRH Kyabazinga Henry Wako Muloki, KCB expanded to include senior secondary (O-Level) in 1965 and Advanced Level (A-Level) later on in 1981, making it a full boarding school with strong traditions in academics and sports. Kiira College Butiki (KCB), is located on Butiki Hill near Namulesa trading center, along the Jinja-Kamuli Highway in the Eastern region of Uganda, approximately 14 kilometers from Jinja town.
The sprawling green campus blends traditional architecture with modern learning spaces, dedicated science laboratories, ICT facilities, a library, athletic fields, and ultra-modern dormitories that foster community and discipline. The school has wi-fi and other internet facilities, an animal and agricultural farm, all that in a forest green, serene environment. The school can comfortably accommodate approximately 25,000 students, given its new classroom facilities, Science Laboratories and dormitories
KCB is renowned nationally for strong performance in national examinations, critical thinking programs, and enrichment of co-curricular activities . Academic clubs, career guidance, and leadership initiatives support personal development beyond classroom walls. The school continues to perform among the top 10 in the country in national examinations, and topping other activities, the most notable recently is International Eurasian Schools Debating Championship in Turkey.

Over the decades, KCB has been shaped by visionary headmasters and educators who have steered the school through growth, excellence, and innovation.The first headmaster was Mr. Arthur Nyanga, and in 1962, the senior secondary section was introduced under Mr. Robert Harold, who led the school until 1970. In 1965, the school was taken over by the central government and presented its first S4 students for the Cambridge O-Level examinations. Later, the A-Level section was introduced for both Arts and Science subjects under the leadership of Mr. John Isabirye, officially designating KCB as an A-Level boys’ boarding school
